Four
of Steiners' CATS were born in 1985: Peapurr in September,
Mama Kitty in October
(an estimate only), Mocha B. Dude in November, and
Snickers in December. Peapurr
and Mocha were adopted as kittens from Wendy's Animal House (a pet store) in
Mount Clawmens. Mama Kitty was a friendly stray who first appeared at the door
in Spring 1986 and soon thereafter became pregnant by a purrsonable young tabby. Following the birth of her
litter, she was adopted. Snickers joined the family as an adult, thanks to
the Zellers, friends at church.
After more than six months of battling kidney failure,
Mocha crossed the Rainbow Bridge on February 13, 2002. Mama Kitty
followed him on June 25, 2003. This tough little fighter had overcome a
near-fatal allergy to Tapazole, thryroid surgery, and breast cancer before
surrendering her tenth life. Our dearly beloved "Traveling Cat,"
Snickers, made his final trip on January 31,
2005. As the song says, "Orange cats make the very best
friends." Our last senior, Peapurr, developed mouth cancer and left us at age 20 on November 18,
2005.
