In the Fall of 1989, a feral cat nicknamed Mama Muffy gave birth to a litter of kittens outside the Funny Farm in Mount Clawmens. With Winter approaching, Shawna took pity on these little critters and lured them into the house with food. Although Mama Muffy never adjusted to life indoors, her six kittens were successfully integrated into the family. The three tuxedo boys are Brave, Bandit, and Bad Boy. Their calico sisters are Bits, Bytes, and Brenna. Bytes, Bad Boy, Brenna, and Bandit have crossed the Rainbow Bridge (see Sibling Seraphim). Brave--also known as Mr. Brave, Curly Brave, Bwavey, B-wave, or Wubby--asks for his special dry food, lies on the middle of the floor with his belly exposed, and sleeps with Shawna at night. Bits--aka Sweet Bits, Little Bits, Bitters, or Bitski Kitski--has become a lap/shoulder cat in her golden years, and occasionally her "meow" is audible.
