Shawna "discovered" Possum (formerly Lilo) at Gasow Veterinary, and he quickly demonstrated his endearing "Possumbilities" to Jim. The vet estimated that Possum was born in October 2004. He and his brother were brought in as strays from Bloomfield Hills. When his real brother was adopted, Possum "adopted" Patch. Possum is a sweetie and likes to be picked up and held like a baby. This is a challenge because he has become a very big (and furry) boy. Possum is quite laid back and gets along with most of his fellow felines; the only cat he annoys is Brave.

Patch the Pirate (formerly Pirate) was brought to Gasow as a stray kitten with an infection in her right eye in December 2004, when she was about 5 months old. Possum did not want to leave his friend behind, so Patch came home with him on February 10, 2005. Patch is a bit of a scaredy cat; but she loves other cats, especially Brave and Pot'o'Fur, and is warming to people. She will allow some petting and even "grooms" Shawna once in a while. When Patch purrs, she makes a tiny, high-pitched piping noise; perhaps "Patch the Piper" should be her name.
